No corners cut

Our process for recruiting site personnel, skilled tradesmen and plant operatives is actually very similar to our process for recruiting senior site staff and construction management personnel. There is a higher turnover when placing trades, labour and machine drivers in roles, fair enough. But that doesn't mean that we should cut corners does it?

All of our temporary trades & labour placements are subject to the same comprehensive process, regardless of the level of salary involved and regardless of the length of placement.

That doesn't mean that we're slow to react, mind you. Tradeline are constantly investing in tried and tested methods of candidate attraction and generation and have a substantial workforce which we like to keep in work.

This is our process for sourcing and recruiting construction trades, labour and plant operatives:

1. Candidate attraction/ generation

We are constantly investing in proven ways of attracting the right candidates to Tradeline. As well as the traditional methods of advertising vacancies we utilise leading edge technology to bring candidates to us via a multitude of online routes

2. Interview

Each candidate undergoes at least a structured telephone interview. Ideally, we like to meet as many candidates as possible face-to-face but this can be difficult on shorter placements in more remote areas of the region.

3. Work history verified

We ensure that we have a thorough work history dating back at least 3 years and will take up all references immediately. As our consultants have careers grounded in construction, they are aware of the right questions to ask in order to build a true picture of that candidate and to ensure that you have the best-fit for your site.

4. All the legal stuff

We ensure that no temporary worker is placed on site without all of the relevant documentation having been collected and verified. We then ensure that he, or she, has all of the correct safety equipment, and applicable tools, before the placement is confirmed in writing and via SMS.

5. The check-in

On the day of the placement the candidate is checked in on site. However, that's not where the process ends. We keep in touch with both the client and the candidate so we can deal with any issues which might arise. When a problem does occur, it is dealt with swiftly and with understanding.
